thinking about it

did i ever tell you i like my communication class. ok not really, it gets boring at times
but i do like the way my professor teaches or at least the way he goes when it comes to our presentations. he gives us a broad topic and he let's us do whatever. he's not there holding our hand process through process like some teachers.

for this class we had one presentation: present an idea, invention,theory,person or phenomenon that was related to the internet or video games as mass media. that's it. he didn't give us a week to decide and then tell him so he can see if it's appropriate or not. he was like just do it and if you have a question come see me. i love how he give us so much freedom. i chose to talk about the reaction people had with the psn being down, if you were interested.

so last week i had a conversation with my communication professor before class. he knew i was a communication major and he asked me how much longer til i graduate. i tell him that im just waiting to start classes for my major since they are only offered on even years. then he ask me what's after that. and i told him i had no idea. i had no idea what a communication major could do. he told me there are a lot of things, things that never crossed my mind. and the one thing he did say that stuck with me was after i get my ba get my master's and teach here.

in the back of my mind i always had that 'be a teacher' thought when i truly didn't know what i wanted to do with the rest of my life. i had that idea of freedom writers or some morgan freeman in lean on me.like if i were to be a teacher i wouldn't be just any teacher. i'd be an extraordinarily teacher! you know that teacher you write letters to after you've accomplished something thanking them for making a difference in their lives, those teachers. i know i don't have the patience to teach elem., middle or high school kids. so i was always quick to shoot that thought down. but being a professor? it never crossed my mind, ok it has but when ever i heard professor i always paired it with an old face. it wasn't til the semester i took literature, my professor was really young. like in her early 30s. so when my prof. mentioned it, i don't know but the thought sat with me. maybe something i'd be interested in doing one day.
